After the Storm
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to those who were in the path of the hurricane. I grew up in New Jersey, and my sister tells me there is nothing left of the places we knew. I live here, where you never know if a tornado will strike, so I guess no where is really safe.

Impressions of Winter Wheat
The farmers are beginning to plant the winter wheat in this area. By June, there will be harvest, and in between, a whole lot waiting and watching the weather.

Harvest Moon
For the past 10 years I have wanted to do a series of images based on assorted cultural names for the full moon.(and posted on the day of the full moon) Here is my first one, the name from an American reference.

Water, Water
It's been raining, and all that wet inspired this underwater scene.
It's also chilly. I can't remember when the last time it was really cool here. I'm loving it!

Gnome
In days of old when knights were bold
And myths weren’t suchly viewed
The gnomes did live among us
They were then in their youth
But times do change and myths they die
Replaced by faith in Truth
Yet somehow here the gnome still lives
Beneath the old tree root
I see those ageless, lonely eyes
And hear the slight despair
His heart must fill with emptiness
To think that no one cares.
So like the ones among us
Who reach out ere softly
Seeking nothing so much more
Than a simple smile - you see.
That gnome he lives in all of us
Who feel the need to seek
A comfort from the world beyond
A simple chance to speak
I greet the gnome within us all
A welcome smile , and sigh
Those ageless eyes, and empty heart
At one time, they were mine.
And myths weren’t suchly viewed
The gnomes did live among us
They were then in their youth
But times do change and myths they die
Replaced by faith in Truth
Yet somehow here the gnome still lives
Beneath the old tree root
I see those ageless, lonely eyes
And hear the slight despair
His heart must fill with emptiness
To think that no one cares.
So like the ones among us
Who reach out ere softly
Seeking nothing so much more
Than a simple smile - you see.
That gnome he lives in all of us
Who feel the need to seek

Those ageless eyes, and empty heart
At one time, they were mine.

Song of One
Tidewater scents drift across
my mind
On tiny feet they scurry
through my thoughts
And race away unseen - just
out of reach
Where in this depth do these
memories find
Their way to the surface to
taunt and tease.
I smell the surf, feel the
sand, and long for the past.
Time has no boundaries within
a heart
It beats, and calls, and
reaches,
Begging to be recognized,
longing
To know completeness.
And here within my mind I
search
Knowing all the while that I
am lost.
One must reach to seek-
-touch to know
I cannot…will not…..
So I sing alone.

Love
If I find the words, I will put them in a poem
But don’t wait.
They will never come in time to tell you
I feel them there, hovering on the fringe
But don’t wait
Because each time I reach out, they are gone.
Touch, smell and hearing all combine
And I still can’t seem to know.
Please don’t wait
For if you do, you may miss the simple truth
You may miss the knowing.
Don’t wait
Just simply understand,
I love you.
Don’t wait
Just simply understand,
I love you.

Secrets
Tell me what it was like when you felt the first quickening
Were you aware of the spirit within you?
Sing the song of the one whose thought, and breath, and love
Brought form out of nothingness.
Tell me what it was like when you felt the first quickening
Did you feel the sweet slip of water, or the fire of pain?
Sing the song of the spirit within, and teach me of a long ago
I cannot imagine
Tell me what it was like when you felt the first quickening
Is there still a bit of what went before….to find?
Sing the song of the hands, and hearts, and places
You have known.
Tell me what it was like,
The need within me is great-
And I will sing your song
Forever

Happy Valentines Day
No painting....no poem. I'm not real big on these contrived holidays.
Go out and commit some random acts of kindness.
Love is at it's best without strings.

Love is at it's best without strings.
